CHURCH OF PURGATORIO (PURGATORY)
Built in 1688, by the architect Pietro Castro, its layout is that of a Basilica with a nave and two aisles. In 1714 G. B. Amico completed the tower style façade and enlivened it with decorative elements and statues in stuccoed stone. The Latin cross interior houses the 20 precious groups of statues that recall the Passion of Christ. These works of art are carried in the Good Friday procession until Saturday and were made between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries in the workshops of Trapani according to the techniques using wood, canvas and glue.
