MUSEO DEI PANI EX CHIESA DI S. BARTOLOMEO

Bread Museum

The ex church of San Bartolomeo, called dell’Oratorio (centuries XVI-XVII), had a Mostra permanente dei pani - permanent exhibition of bread  used in the festivities for San Biagio (3 February) and San Giuseppe (19 March). The so-called cuddureddi di San Brasi, symbolising a throat, and the cavadduzzi, in the shape of locusts, allude to the miracles carried out by the Saint for a young man who was about to suffocate and for an invasion of locusts
The loaves of San Giuseppe, used to decorated the votive alters of the Cene, however, are in the shapes of flowers, plants, animals, work tools and the main Christian symbols.
